Quick Start
Get up and running with cDox in a few minutes.
Welcome to cDox
cDox is a simple, private document and spreadsheet editor. No Google accounts, no tracking, no surprises. Your documents are hosted in Canada and belong entirely to you.
This guide will walk you through creating your first page, formatting text, working with spreadsheets, and sharing your work. You'll be productive in a few minutes.
Create your first page
Look at the bottom-right corner of your dashboard. You'll see a round + button. Click it and choose Page. That's it. Your new page opens immediately and you can start writing.
There's no "Save" button. cDox automatically saves your work continuously as you type. If you close your browser and come back later, your page will be exactly how you left it.
You can also give your page a title by clicking on the title area at the top of the editor. This title is what shows up in your dashboard and when you share the page.
Format your writing
The toolbar at the top of the editor has everything you need to format your text. You'll find buttons for bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, headings (H1, H2, H3), bullet lists, numbered lists, task lists, block quotes, code blocks, highlighting, and links.
To make text bold, for example, select it and click the B button in the toolbar. You can also use the shortcut Cmd+ B.
The most useful keyboard shortcuts: Cmd+ B for bold, Cmd+ I for italic, Cmd+ K to insert a link, and Cmd+ Z to undo.
Highlighting comes in two colors: yellow and red. Great for drawing attention to important passages or marking text for review.
Create a sheet
Sheets work just like the spreadsheets you already know. Click the + button and choose Sheet to create one. You get a blank grid ready for your data.
Click any cell and start typing. Use Tab to move to the next cell and Enter to move down a row. If you go past the last column or last row, the grid expands automatically.
For formulas, start by typing = in a cell. For example, =SUM(A1:A10) adds up the values from A1 to A10. The formula bar above the grid always shows you the content of the active cell.
You can import a CSV file directly into cDox. It will automatically become a sheet with all your data.
Stay organized
As you create pages and sheets, you'll want to keep them organized. Use the sidebar to create folders. You can move documents into folders one by one, or select multiple documents at once using batch operations.
To create a folder, look for the + button next to the "Folders" label in the sidebar. Give it a name and you're set.
Dashboard shortcuts: press N to create a new document, I to import, or F to create a folder.
